Every year our school receives a report card based upon the expectations of No Child Left Behind. This past year our school as a whole made incredible growth on the end of level tests that were administered in the Spring. Our teachers have worked extremely hard and need to be commended for their efforts. As a school, the % of students who passed the end of level test increased by 17% in Language Arts and by 17% in Mathematics as well.
Great things happen at our school every day!
Provo Schol district offers many differnt types of parenting classes throughout the year. A class will be offered on March 10th entitled Crucial Conversations for Parents. Download a flyer for more information.

Several artists from the Utah Opera appeared at Spring Creek to teach the students about opera. They used a game show format to teach the students some basic opera terminology and then demonstrated it for the students. So the students learned several different kinds of voices, like soprano, mezzo and tenor, and got to hear what each kind of voice sounds like. They learned what an aria is and got to hear one. They also heard a duet from "Hansel and Gretel". The students really enjoyed the presentation and were a great audience.

A great big thanks to Questar Gas for helping as judges for the Science Fair in February. Questar employees donated their time and expertise to help pull off a great night.

On December 18 Questar Gas (Springville Operations) made a generous donation of $700 to Spring Creek Elementary. The children not only loved this gift, but Questar also brought Santa Claus to visit with gifts for each class. Thank you Questar for your support of education and the children here at Spring Creek.
This past week our students ahd the chance to perform and brag about the great things that are happening at our school. About 200 students got up early to perform for the cameras and get a chance to be on live television. Ballroom Dance, Choir, African Drumming, Student Council, Robotics Club, radKIDS, and Mrs. Stilson's class all had a chance to perform on camera. The entire school was also highlighted as they completed our Gold medal Mile course. It was an early morning for our students, yet will be a lasting memory for all of them.

Before the holiday break our 3rd graders got to hear from a very special visitor. Greg Bell, the Lieutenant Governor of Utah. He spoke to the students about academic subjects that would help lead them to good careers in the future. He shared an entertaining and informative video about democracy and about feeding our brains with knowledge (instead of frying them with video games). One thing that the students really enjoyed was having the Lt. Governor answer questions that they had written to him before his arrival. The questions ranged from "What is the best part about being Lt. Governor?" to "What is your favorite restaurant?". He was happy to answer them all. Students left with pencils from the Governor's office and pictures of the Utah State Capitol. Thank you, Lieutenant Governor Bell!

This year our wonderful librarian has created a unique reading program. Students will be issued a passport to collect stamps of different books that they have read. More information will be coming in the next few weeks. Please contact Lisa Briggs if you would like more information.
The Spring Creek PTA has an on-going "fundraiser" with ProInk Stores. Printer Ink can be ordered through springcreek.ptaink.com at a great discounted rate and the PTA receives a donation with each purchase.
