Academics at Spring Creek

Spring Creek Elementary School offers a comprehensive curriculum for students in Kindergarten through 6th Grade that aligns with the Core Curriculum as defined by the State of Utah.

 

Language Arts

 

Students spend a significant portion of every school day (2-2.5 hours) in Reading and Writing activities. At Spring Creek our Teachers utilize a textbook series and pedagogy entitled Treasures. Daily classes include whole group instruction in Writing, Grammar, Vocabulary, Spelling, Reading Comprehension and other literature activities. Students also participate in daily small group and independent activities that align with these topics. Computer based programs, assessments, interactive activities, and tutorials are utilized during this time. Additonal classroom aides are assigned to each classroom during this small group time to lower class sizes and provide small group and individualized help according to student progress. Every day students read in a small group setting with his/her classroom teacher to monitor academic progress in phonics, vocabulary, phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, and reading fluency.
