Our academic classes begin first thing in the morning at 8:15. Students in grades 1st-6th receive extra help with comprehension and fluency through one on one attention and computer practice. Several also participate in our Breakfast program before beginning their early morning activities. It's a great way to start the day.
Students are able to come into the Library to study, read, and listen to stories in the Kiva. Ms. Strong alternates between picture books and chapter books that the students choose for her to read.
As a school, we are trying to 'walk around the world' by walking around the school grounds. Each time around the students earn a bean to put in the classroom to try to earn the 'golden sneakers' each month. Miss Sights walks with the students and passes out the beans as they complete each round. Students can begin walking with Miss Sights at 8:15 in the morning or join in with Miss Allred. Miss Allred is always ready for some fun. She has groups of students playing flag football, basketball, soccer and all sorts of active games both outdoors and in the gym on bad weather days.
is also held on Friday mornings. It's great to walk down our halls and listen to some great rhythms as the students pratices on the drums.
Homework Lab is on a drop-in basis. Anyone in any grade can come to homework lab if they need any assistance with homework. Students just need to call home first to make arrangements to stay after school, or parents can call Mrs. Russon or Miss Williams and make arrangements for their student to stay on a long term basis.
We have some fantastic classes to offer this year. For our upper grades, students can choose from Orchestra, Choir, Knitting, Art, Radkids, Track, Ballroom, African Drumming and 4-H Club. For the lower grades, students can participate in Track, Radkids, Knitting, Legobots, and we have opened 2 Art classes.
If students also need any help with home work, we have our Homework Lab. There is a certified teacher, with 3-5 aides and BYU volunteers to help the students understand and complete their work.
All of our AfterSchool Activities start with a snack and a few minutes of supervised playtime before classes begin.
